Job Description:
Marshall Tyler has been an ophthalmic photography for 33 years. After starting his career at Yale University for 4 years, he has worked at the Wake Forest University Eye Center, a major teaching university based medical center. His duties include fundus, fluorescein angiography, ICG angiography, external, slit-lamp, endothelial, OR, and video imaging. He is particularly interested in stereo imaging. Non-photographic modalities now include OCT imaging. Additional work includes equipment innovation and design, maintenance, and networking duties which presently includes integrating all imaging modalities in ophthalmology into a single imaging system for integrating into an electronic medical record (EMR).
Related to his full-time position on the faculty, Marshall Tyler has written 4 books (www.TwinChimney.com), several book chapters, over 90 lectures, won 75 photographic awards (mostly at the Scientific Session of the America Academy of Ophthalmology by the Ophthalmic Photographers' Society), and written and/or photographed for 60 peer reviewed journal articles. He has been a member of the Ophthalmic Photographers' Society (OPS) since 1975 and served on all 3 boards of the Ophthalmic Photographers' Society. He earned the OPS designation of Certified Retinal Angiographer (CRA) and he was bestowed the honor of Fellow of the OPS (FOPS) for service to the profession and the society.
